During his time in high school, Bob was a multi-sport athlete and an intense competitor who enjoyed working on muscle cars whenever possible.
Bob arrived in Vietnam in January 1969 and was lost during an artillery battle in August of that year. Just a day or two before his loss Bob spent time with another Bruin whose duties required him to be in the area.
