Michael Lipsius
PFC, Army
Michael was a year behind me in school and I don’t recall ever having a class with him. Aside from the basic casualty information I have little information concerning his loss. I do know that he was in-country just in time for the Tet offensive, although his loss was after the offensive was officially declared over. I have attempted to access some information on personal sites that are no longer available. I believe his sister Jane Callanan may have additional information. If anyone can put me in touch with her please do so.

Michael was with D Company, 5/7 Cav and was KIA on our initial air assault into the A Shau Valley on April 19, 1968. He and a friend died on a helicopter as it was shot down on landing approach. I was the medic that took him off the helicopter and found that he was KIA. He had only been in country a few weeks. May he rest in peace throughout eternity. | |
